2007 Competition Entry Guayaquil, Ecuador 14000 m2 Scope of Work Architectural Design Policentro, the first shopping mall that was built in Guayaquil, decided to grow and renovate the existing infrastructure, and create a competition for the creation a a new wing for additional retail space and a second level for parking. Arkitektura won the competition but due to the 2008 financial crisis the project remained unbuilt.
Guayaquil International Airport
2005 Preliminary Design Guayaquil, Ecuador 18000 m2 Scope of Work Architectural Design The multinational company Odebrecht participated in the competition for the international airport of Guayaquil, developed by the Municipality and the Civil Aviation Corporation. Odebrecht chose Arkitektura for the preliminary architectural design. The contemporary and light design offers travelers a friendly, functional, and entertaining tropical seaside atmosphere. It includes a metal structure, granite flooring and natural stone on exposed walls in important public areas, fresh and vibrant colors, indirect natural light, ample and comfortable spaces with an infrastructure of services, stores, and cafes comparable to airports in developed countries. Traffic flows for check-in, immigration, baggage delivery, customs and the way out to the city, emphasize fluidity and avoiding a high concentration of people during peak hours. The new airport should become a model infrastructure for the city, the country and the region.
TV Cable Headquarters
2002 Completed Guayaquil, Ecuador 3000 m2 Scope of Work Architectural Design Interior Design New Contruction With a curved façade inspired by the curves of satellite antennas, the architectural design for its new headquarters had to be contemporary and functional for TV Cable, the most important cable Company in the country. We developed an open concept to promote communication among the different departments of the company plus private spaces for specific activities in a flexible plan that allows for future development and growth. The public area for customer service features a bank of screens showing the different programs offered by TV Cable. The concrete structure supports main facades made of curtain walls built with double pane glass for thermic and acoustic isolation. Operable windows allow natural ventilation when desired.
TC TV Headquarters
1997 Completed Guayaquil, Ecuador 6500 m2 Scope of Work Architectural Design Interior Design New Contruction The plan for one of the largest television channels in the country was to create an office space for executives and directors that also offered the necessary comfort to welcome politicians, entrepreneurs, and artists. Developed on an existing concrete structure, Arkitektura’s design added a new full floor with a curved metal structure for the roof, creating space for executive offices, conference rooms, auditorium and projection room. The design of the building reflects a contemporary and functional institution where freedom of speech is prized. The interior design plan focused on an entrance lobby conceived to allow art exhibitions and spacious hallways for short encounters among employees.
Conauto Headquarters
1994 Completed Guayaquil, Ecuador 2300 m2 Scope of Work Interior Design The interior design for the headquarters of swiss company Conauto focused on several areas: the main entrance lobby, lobbies, and restroom facilities on every floor. On the top floor, Arkitektura designed the reception and offices for President, Vice-president and executives of the company, a large conference room for meetings with stockholders, a lounge, and private dining room. On the second floor, we designed the company’s auditorium and the employee and executive restaurant. The ground floor plan includes a large hardware store—one of the multiple businesses of Conauto. High traffic areas use Brazilian granite on floors and walls while offices have commercial carpet and custom designed wood paneling on walls.
