Guayaquil International Airport
2005 Preliminary Design Guayaquil, Ecuador 18000 m2 Scope of Work Architectural Design The multinational company Odebrecht participated in the competition for the international airport of Guayaquil, developed by the Municipality and the Civil Aviation Corporation. Odebrecht chose Arkitektura for the preliminary architectural design. The contemporary and light design offers travelers a friendly, functional, and entertaining tropical seaside atmosphere. It includes a metal structure, granite flooring and natural stone on exposed walls in important public areas, fresh and vibrant colors, indirect natural light, ample and comfortable spaces with an infrastructure of services, stores, and cafes comparable to airports in developed countries. Traffic flows for check-in, immigration, baggage delivery, customs and the way out to the city, emphasize fluidity and avoiding a high concentration of people during peak hours. The new airport should become a model infrastructure for the city, the country and the region.
